Get Ready for a New Era of Travel: Saudia is Bringing its Cutting-Edge A321XLR to Paris This Summer!
Exciting news for aviation enthusiasts and travelers alike! Saudia has recently updated its flight schedules, and the big reveal is the introduction of their brand-new Airbus A321XLR aircraft on routes to Paris starting in June 2026. This isn't just any aircraft; the A321XLR is designed for longer flights, promising a more comfortable and efficient journey.
As of February 1st, 2026, the planned configuration for this impressive aircraft is 24 business class seats and 120 economy class seats, totaling 144 seats. This means a more intimate business class experience and a comfortable economy cabin for everyone.
But here's where it gets interesting... The A321XLR will be deployed on several key routes from Jeddah, with some interesting variations in frequency:
- Jeddah to Geneva: Starting September 1st, 2026, with 4 weekly flights, and an ambitious plan to ramp up to 7 weekly flights just a day later, on September 2nd, 2026. This suggests a strong demand and confidence in this route.
- Jeddah to Madrid: Kicking off on August 1st, 2026, with 4 weekly flights, quickly increasing to 6 weekly flights from August 3rd, 2026. Spain is clearly a major focus!
- Jeddah to Male (Maldives): Scheduled to begin on July 1st, 2026, with 3 weekly flights. Imagine flying to paradise in style!
- Jeddah to Paris Charles de Gaulle: The highlight! Beginning June 15th, 2026, with 3 weekly flights (flight numbers SV131/130). This is the big news, opening up a direct link with this state-of-the-art aircraft.
- Jeddah to Riyadh: Various flights are planned from July 2nd, 2026, indicating it will be a frequent domestic connection.
- Jeddah to Vienna: Starting June 2nd, 2026, with 3 weekly flights, and a significant boost to 4 weekly flights during the peak summer period from June 21st to September 5th, 2026.
Beyond Jeddah, the A321XLR will also be gracing other routes:
- Riyadh to Athens: A seasonal service from August 5th to August 26th, 2026, with 1 weekly flight.
- Riyadh to Geneva: Launching September 2nd, 2026, with 3 weekly flights, and an intention to increase to 4 weekly flights from September 6th, 2026.
- Riyadh to Moscow Sheremetyevo: Commencing July 2nd, 2026, with 5 weekly flights, slightly adjusting to 4 weekly flights from September 8th, 2026.
And this is the part most people miss... You might recall that we previously reported the A321XLR was slated for the Jeddah to Barcelona route starting October 27th, 2026. While that's still on the cards, Saudia had initially planned to use the A321XLR for Jeddah to Mauritius from June 15th, 2026. However, this plan has been scrapped, and the airline will now be deploying their reliable Boeing 787-9/-10 aircraft for that route instead. This shift highlights how airlines constantly adapt their fleet strategies based on demand and operational considerations.
So, what do you think about Saudia's ambitious A321XLR expansion? Are you excited to experience this new aircraft on the Paris route, or do you feel that focusing on other destinations first might have been a better strategy?
