The recruiting world is buzzing as Dylan Berymon, the top uncommitted prospect for 2026, narrows his choices. This four-star defensive lineman from Ouachita Parish in Monroe, Louisiana, is the prize everyone's after. But where will he go?
Berymon, previously committed to Texas, is now focusing on two key programs: Nebraska and Kentucky. He's currently visiting Nebraska, aiming to get to know the Huskers better. But here's where it gets interesting...
Berymon admitted to Rivals' Chad Simmons on December 31st that he doesn't know much about either school. He emphasized that these visits are crucial for his final decision, which is expected in February. He's been in contact with Nebraska longer, giving him a slight edge in familiarity. However, Kentucky's new coaching staff has been aggressively pursuing him.
Following his Nebraska visit, Berymon will head to Lexington to check out new head coach Will Stein and the Kentucky Wildcats.
According to the Rivals Industry Ranking, which combines data from major recruiting media, Berymon is ranked No. 211 overall and No. 26 among defensive linemen in the 2026 cycle. He's also the No. 8 recruit in Louisiana.
Berymon had committed to Texas last summer but de-committed in November. Initially, it seemed like Ole Miss or LSU might be his next destination, but both programs underwent staff changes during the Early Signing Period. This left Berymon open to new possibilities.
Nebraska seized the opportunity, re-emerging as a strong contender. Kentucky then joined the race, making the competition even more intense. Berymon's talent suggests he would be a valuable asset to either a Big Ten or SEC program.
Berymon highlighted Nebraska's strong recruitment efforts, stating, "They really like me a lot and that means something to me. The coaches have been checking up on me, and I know they really want to get me there."
Interestingly, Nebraska's 2026 recruiting class, as of December, is ranked No. 95 nationally. They signed only 10 prospects during that period, and notably, there isn't a defensive lineman among them.
What do you think? Will Berymon choose the established program or the one with a fresh start? Do you think Nebraska's current recruiting strategy will pay off? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
