Chipping of the Greens Project
Project Description
Master Gardeners and Old Hickory Mall sponsor this event every year.
Chipping of the Greens is a recycling program for your discarded Christmas trees. Recycling Christmas trees helps save space in landfills, provides free mulch, and reminds the public of our solid-waste management problem. The idea was started in Jackson in 1981.
Street Department trucks in your district will pick the tree up for chipping by calling 425-CITY or you can bring your tree the day of the chipping and pick up some free mulch. Chipping is usually held at the mall parking lot the second weekend of January.
